Transcriptional Regulation of B Cells
David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA
Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center
A postdoctoral research fellow is needed to lead an investigation into the role of the tumor suppressor LKB1 in regulating B cell quiescence and germinal center formation. Recent findings in the lab suggest that this process is mediated by NF-κB signaling, and we are looking for highly motivated candidates to explore this interesting topic with implications for humoral immunity and malignant transformation.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology/Immunology/Cell Biology or equivalent. Also, familiarity with mouse models, flow cytometry, ELISA, western blotting and other molecular immunological assays is required. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in immunology and cell signaling, and experience in B cell biology is desirable. As the Teitell laboratory has several ongoing project areas, applicants should be self-starting and independent with the ability to help design and carry out the project aims, in addition to being proactive in seeking advice within and outside the lab and in helping to establish and work with collaborators.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Designing and implementing projects
• Documentation and analysis of experimental results
• Preparation of data for publications and/or presentation
• Writing research grant/contract applications for funding of research projects

Polynucleotide Phosphorylase (PNPase) in Mitochondria
David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA
Molecular Biology Institute
A postdoctoral research fellow is needed to lead an innovative research project on PNPase, an essential endonuclease that is localized to both the intermembrane space and the matrix of mitochondria. Recent breakthroughs in the lab have opened up a potential mitochondrial/nuclear gene regulatory role for this protein, and we are looking for highly motivated candidates to uncover the exciting function of PNPase in mitochondria.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Cell Biology or equivalent. Also, familiarity with mammalian tissue culture, western blotting, northern blotting, and other common RNA assay techniques is required. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in RNA biology /gene regulation and/or mitochondrial gene expression. As the Teitell laboratory has several ongoing project areas, applicants should be self-starting and independent with the ability to help design and carry out the project aims, in addition to being proactive in seeking advice within and outside the lab and in helping to establish and work with collaborators.
